As the war dragged onWW1 GERMAN IMPERIAL PRUSSIAN AIR GUNNERS BADGE IN SILVER
History
During WW1 there were three flight badges which could be awarded to flying personnel they were the Pilots Badge the Observers Badge and the Air Gunners Badge. The first badges were issued in 1913 and were authorised for wear until the end of WW2 along side Third Reich awards.
Regulations initially required that all badges were produced in Silver, most badges are marked 800 with some marked 935. As the war dragged on financial and material shortages meant that Silver was no longer used and in 1916 Silver plated Brass was used.
