WW2 AUSTRALIAN ARTILLERY SLOUCH HAT POSSIBLE TIMOR CONNECTION

This WW2 Slouch Hat has seen a lot of action typified by the wear on the hat and the lack of a liner band which most soldiers removed when deployed due to the sweating in the heat. It bears the colour patch of the 2/1 Australian Heavy Artillery Battery who were deployed in Timor as part of the Sparrow Force which was raised in May1944 and captured by the Japanese in Feb 1942.

There is no provenace provided to show that this hat was worn in Timor but its condition and lack of liner band coupled with the fact that it came from WA leads to that conclusion.
