WW2 US BATTLE OF THE BULGE POW STALAG 13C, GENERAL PATTONS HEMELBURG RAID BRONZE STAR MEDAL GROUPING

Interesting medal grouping to a TSgt John W. Hillard of C Company 394 Infantry who was taken POW during the Battle of The Bulge and interned in the famous Stalag 13c Hammelburg (made famous by the TV series 'Hogans Heroes') which was the scene of the controversial rescue raid ordered by General Patton to rescue his son-in-law Lieut.Col John K Waters who was also a prisoner in Stalag 13c, some 40 miles behind enemy lines. The raid ended in failure.

    The grouping consists of:

Bronze Star (slot brooch) unamed, Prisoner of War medal unamed, Army Good Conduct medal unamed,  American Campaign medal, Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign medal with two Bronze Star devices, WW2 Victory medal, Army Occupation medal, National Defence Service medal, Korean Service medal with two Bronze Star devices and UN Korea medal.

A korean War period photo album with images taken in Japan A copy of his medal entitlement form and various research confirming that TSgt Hillard was a POW and held in Stalag 13c.

This is a nice WW2 US soldiers grouping that tells multiple stories of events that happened at the same time.
