17 CENTURY JAPANESE SAMURAI SWORD KANEMOTO
Another sword recently purchased in a collection of Japanese swords and have had the Tangs de-ciphered,
the Tang is signed
SEKI - Town
KANEMOTO SAKU - Kanemoto made this.
The scabbard has ink characters that reads 'Made by Kanemoto of Seki'.
The blade is in original polish and shows its age of the 17 Century. The Hamon is present and is shaped 'GONOME SAMBONSUGI' (half circles with 3 Cedar trees)
The sword is mounted in Shirasaya (protective wooden scabbard). Blade length is 540 mm.
As early Japanese Samurai swords are increasing in value at a rate of knots this sword represents good entry level value and will only increase in value.
