1895 MODEL GERMAN SPIKE HELMET REUSSE
This spike helmet or also known as a pickelhaube dates from 1895 and continued to the early period of WW1. It is an senior NCO model that is recognised by the pearl ring on the brass spike and the Officers cockades on the side of the helmet. It was issued to an Army unit from the principality of Reusse in the pre Federation era of the German states. Helmets from pre federated states are rare.
All fittings are brass, the helmet does show wear which is commensurate with its age. There are unit markings to the inside of the rear skirt. The chinstrap is missing. This helmet is well priced considering its rarity.
