RARE ITALIAN 1925 MVSN FIRST PATTERN DAGGER/FIGHTING KNIFE
This rare and desirable Italian MVSN Dagger has just come in from a deceased estate. These "first pattern" MVSN daggers are extremely rare, as they were quickly replaced by the "second pattern", which could serve as a knife, dagger, and also as a dress sidearm. With a cruciform blade, the early pattern was useful mainly for fighting and stabbing, without any cutting edge. Not exactly the type of weapon one wanted to be seen with during dress occasions. Dating circa 1925 this example was worn by Caminere (Black Shirts) and Paratroopers.
This example has plain wood handle grips with traces of the original plated to the metal parts The cross gaurd has ball ends and is stamped MVSN to one side and C 649 to the other. The cruciform blade is blued and is in excellent condition. The scabbard is also blued and has a angled belt loop.
The last owner paid an absolute fortune for this dagger over 10 years ago and I have searched the internet to try and find another example for sale today to no avail, showing just how rare it is.
