RARE WW1 GERMAN TURKISH ISSUED ARTILLERY DIAL SIGHT BY GOERTZ
Now I am no expert on Artillery sighting equipment and whilst there are a few WW1 German Artillery dial sights on Google I cannot find an example of this particular gun sight.
The sight was purchased by me locally here in Western Australia and was a bring back from WW1. The Australians fought the Turkish Army all through the Middle East and at Gallipoli. It is a large sight measuring 310mm long x 130 mm high. The sight is what I describe as a direct fire sight and has numerous adjustment dials. It was made by the German firm Goetz who was famous for making optics for the German Army who in turn supplied the Turkish Army with Artillery pieces during WW1. There is Turkish script stamped on the adjustment dials and the issue number 16662 stamped on the sight casing. The optics are in very good condition and have good clarity. It come in its original leather carrying case which has most of the original attachments for the sight. If anybody can supply more information on this sight I would be grateful.
