WHITE STAR LINE TOBACCO TIN 'OLYMPIC'
This White Star Line cigarette tin is in good condition showing wear commensurate with its age. The RMS Olympic was the lead ship of a trio of Olympic Class Liners with a crew of 950. It had a very long career of 24 years from 1911 to 1935. Used as a troop ship in the First World War and gained the nickname of "Old Reliable" and served successfully as an Ocean Liner. Due to the depression and increased competition made her operation increasingly unprofitable. Olympic was retired after 24 yrs at Southampton and dismantled at Jarrow.
This tin has the original cigarette sleeve inside and was made by Wariel and Gray & Co in Liverpool. This collectable tin is rare and desirable.
