WW1/2 GERMAN SENIOR FORESTRY OFFICIALS DAGGER (HIRSCHFANGER)
This Hirschfanger is a private purchase item as the scabbard has been built to house a smaller knife which is missing and not scene on other Hirschfangers. Brass fittings with a D shaped hand guard and clamshell cross guard, the handle is adorned with deer hoofs and 3 acorns to the white bone or possibly celluloid handle denoting Senior position within the Forestry organisation, the rear of the handle has one acorn missing. The scabbard is in excellent condition with a Acorn shaped frog stud. The blade has etched scenes of Deeer hunting to both sides and the edge has been sharpened, no makers marks to the blade. The original forrestry knot is present and has a 1937 dated lapel badge attached.
