WW1 AUSTRALIAN ISSUED HOOKED QUILLON BAYONET FOR THE .303 RIFLE BY LITHGOW 1915 1MD
This is the holy grail of Australian issued 303 bayonets, a hooked quillon bayonet made by the Australian arms manufacturer LITHGOW and dated 1915.
The bayonet is in excellent condition with a very clean blade showing a couple minor spots, correct markings to both sides of the tang with one side displaying the LITHGOW stamp and date stamp of 1915. The wooden handles are in very good condition with the double broad arrow stamp to both sides. The crossguard has the issue number stamp of 12386 and also the issue stamp 1MD for the 1st Military District (Queensland). All the metal bluing to the metal handle parts is 90%. The scabbard is original to the bayonet with the correct tear drop stud with the LITHGOW star just under.
