WW1 BRITISH/AUSTRALIAN "TOMMY" HELMET
On todays market WW1 British/Australian Tommy helmets are increasingly hard to find. They were also made in the US and used by the American Army during WW1and these are often sold as British/Australian helmets and the only way to tell the difference is by the chinstrap bale rivets. The US made helmets use stamped bale rivets and the British/Australian made helmets used split rivets.
This example was a local find here in WA and has the correct split rivets confirming it as a British/Australian issue. The helmet still has its original liner and chinstrap however the chinstrap is broken but still present. The liner shows signs of heavy use due to its age of over 100 years old. The helmet is maker stamped.
