WW1 IMPERIAL GERMANY IRON CROSS FIRST CLASS BY WILLIAM DEUMER
Although this Iron Cross is for service during WW1 it was issued after 1940 as it bears the "L" prefix on the makers mark of L/11for the maker William Deumer Ludensheid, indicating that it was an over the counter purchase at a medal retail shop (ref page 46 and 47 book "The Iron Cross of 1939 by Gordon Williamson).
Convex with much of the silver frosting remaining to the rear of the medal.
Unusual variant.
