WW1 TURKISH GALLIPOLI STAR, GERMAN MAKER
The Gallipolli Star is a military decoration awarded by the Turkish Ottoman Empire. It was known as the Ottoman War Medal or the Iron Crescent. It was instituted by Sultan Mehmed V on 1 March 1915 for gallantry in battle. It was refered to as the Gallipoli Star by the British and Australian troops who took them of the enemy prisoners and dead. They were awarded to German soldiers who fought with the Turkish troops especially at Gallipoli.
