WW2 JAPANESE OFFICERS TROPICAL HELMET
Background
The WW2 Japanese tropical helmet was designed to be worn over the steel helmet to provide thermal insulation and prevented sweat condensation especially in the basket lined models like the one offered here today. They were usually soaked to improve their cooling properties. Most tropical helmets did not survive the war.
Description
This helmet has a six part panel which covers a bamboo frame and retains its original chinstrap. It has an officers brass star to the front. The original issue and name tags are still present.
The helmet is in remarkable condition for its age and has seen little use.
