WW2 JAPANESE TYPE 98 SUN PITH HELMET
This is a good condition original service worn WWII Japanese Army type 98 tropical sun pith helmet. Constructed with bamboo wicker and still retaining most of its form, it comes with original pentagonal cloth army star insignia to the front which has almost all worn off. Helmet has all of the original suspension system and original chinstrap. Well marked original kanji characters.
Condition is definitely worn, showing wear with overall staining and dirt. These helmets were often soaked with water and placed over the steel helmet or sometimes under it to provide a cooling effect. The upper suspension string is present, as is the lower, along with the original chin strap.
