WW2 ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY (RAN) OFFICERS SWORD WITH FOUL WEATHER COVER NAMED
This sword belonged to Lt Commander (RET) N. J. RIDGEWAY Royal Australian Naval Reserve (R.A.N.R.).
Ridgeway enlisted 1923 at the age of 15 years (Fremantle). He was commissioned as an officer from December 1934. He retired in 1954.
He was the cypher officer in charge at H.M.A.S. LEEUWIN at the time of the Sydney/Komoran battle.
The sword has his name engraved on the blade which is in excellent condition The guard has the Kings Crown cypher which is correct for WW2. Scabbard is in good condition. Sword knot has a break but can be repaired. The sword is complete with its foul weather cover (hard to find).
