WWI/2 US M1918 BAR GUNNERS AMMO BELT.
These belts were introduced by the US Army in 1918 when the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) was introduced and was designed for wear by the Gunner and Assistant Gunner. It has a metal butt receptor to hold the rifle in position when fired from the hip. This example is marked in two positions on the rear of the ammo pouches and dated 1918, the same belts were carried over for use By the US Army in WW2.
