    HISTORY

    The pesh-kabz or peshkabz is a type of Indo-Persian fighting knife designed to penetrate mail armour and other types of armour. The word is also spelled pesh-qabz or pish-ghabz and means "fore-grip" in the Persian language it was borrowed into the Hindustani language. Originally created during Safavid Persia, it became widespread in Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent during Mughal period.

    ITEM DESCRIPTION

    Measuring overall 310mm or 12.5 inches with a blade length of 200mm or 8 inches,this item is a Afghan Pesh Kabz traditionally known as a Chura of standard late 19th century type.

    A four piece Ivory grip section and engraved white metal bolsters and grip strap complete the hilt.

    The blade is of a strong armour piercing form with “T” section spine and reinforced edge, the blade is also very highly decorated setting it apart from the normal Pesh Kabz normally experienced.

    In excellent condition overall.

    Complete with chased brass sheet over wood scabbard, decorated in typical Afghan motifs.
