EARLY PERIOD JAPANESE SAMURAI TRAINING SWORD (BOKKEN)
This Samurai training sword is more commonly known as a Bokken. It is approximately 40 inches or 1010mm and is made from hardwood with a steel Tsuba. This example has a period stamping to the handle. Bokkken is used to train sword handling in the martial arts and the Samurai, this example has definitely been used.
Bokken is still being used and produced today but are normally made of modern polypropelene instead of hardwood for the blade and hard plastic for the Tsubas.
This Bokken is a great addition for the Japanese Samurai sword collector's collection.
