TURKISH ERSATZ FAL RIFLE DOUBLE MUZZLE RING BAYONET
At first glance one could be forgiven for thinking this might be from WWI, but it in fact dates from the 1960s. Of Turkish manufacture, these feature a 9.5" knife blade with a fuller down each side, with an overall length of about 15". Of all steel construction, the hilt has the characteristic Two muzzle rings, and is marked with serial number 66714 on the handle.
These bayonets were locally produced for use with the Turkish Contract FN FAL or G1 automatic battle rifles supplied by Belgium in the 1960's and 1970's to Turkey. Clearly influenced by Turkey's great use of German WW1 all steel Ersatz Bayonets that they received from the Kaiser in the First World War and afterwards from the Allies for use on their Mauser Rifles.
This is a very scarce bayonet that was never released in great quantities however an important model in the massive field of bayonet collecting. Comes complete with
standard type all steel scabbard.
