    WW1 OTTOMAN TURKISH OFFICERS SWORD

This WW1 Turkish Officers sword being a local pick up here in WA is most certainly a bring back from Gallipoli or the Middle East. The handle fittings are Brass with the Langet bearing the Turkish Crescent to one side. The ebonised wood handle has a couple of minor nicks. Supisingly the the engraved polished blade is in good condition for its age with only minor spotting or plate loss. The engravings also bear the Turkish Crescent with surrounding floral motifs, the spine has the German makers marks from Solingen. The scabbard has many purpose made dents to stop the sword rattling in the scabbard during movement in the field, there is an urban myth that these dents were caused by the sword getting in the way of a car door slamming when the officer gets in or out of a vehicle which couldnt be more further from the truth.

I have not had one of these swords in a few years especially an officers. Its a good piece of WW1 Australian military history.
