WW1 TURKISH OFFICERS SWORD/SIDEARM.

  • WW1 TURKISH OFFICERS SWORD/SIDEARM. EW1056

    WW1 TURKISH OFFICERS SWORD/SIDEARM.

WW1 Turkish Officers sword/sidearm. These sidearm/swords are not cut down from original length swords but were made specifically in three different lengths. Research has revealed them in photos of officers at Gallipoli and the Middle East during WW1.

This sword measures approx 565mm in length in its scabbard which has a couple of minor dents The end of the scabbard is open to allow water drainage. Grip is made of wood with no chips or cracks. Guard and back-strap is made of brass. Blade showing age due to its field use but still presenting well, blade has a Turkish inscription presumably 'God is Great'. This sword has the issued leather belt frog and is the first on I have ever seen, it aslo is howing signs of field use.

This sidearm sword is definitely a WW1 bring back as they are rarely encountered elsewhere.
